Corona Virus – Prevention is the best way.
Nowadays we are going over an intense and savage pandemic of novel Corona Virus (COVID 19). This perilous virus is extremely virulent and infective. Ten of thousands of people have been died in various developed countries but still, there is no solution coming. Right now the only way to stay safe is prevention. Yes, the phrase “Prevention is better than cure” completely relates to the current situation.
COVID 19 and Eyes
Many public awareness programs prohibit you from handshakes and touching your face and nose. But do you think is there is any relation between your eyes and corona virus ? The answer is big yes! Your eyes can play a significant role in the spread of this virus. The studies from China and Italy (where this virus has caused most deaths) have suggested that Healthcare providers who did not properly cover their eyes while managing Covid 19 infected patients were more likely to be affected from this virus than those who properly covered their eyes. So, it is extremely evident that if the respiratory droplets from the infected patient directly go into your eyes, the virus will you invade very easily. Similarly, rubbing your eyes with hands after hand contact with an infected person or his/her belongings can highly increase the chances of infection. Evidence also demonstrated that this virus causes inflammation in conjunctiva when entered through eyes. So, if you see someone with an inflamed eye and respiratory symptoms of Covid 19 you visit your family physician or govt. recommended hospital for further checkups.
So what should you do?
It is very important to keep social distancing and do not rub your eyes without washing your hands and if you experience conjunctivitis with difficulty in breathing and cough. Go for an immediate screening test if prescribed. Visit your nearest govt. recommended hospital.
